Random DB snippet: [VN]: The start?
Just a snippet I wrote a few weeks back and never posted. (As far as I'm aware.)



Rosen stood, bass in hand.
"Last year, Salt and I got bored and started a band," the verphe said, matter of factly. "It has no name, it has no songs, but..." The bass shrieked out a chord under Rosen's nails. "It's pretty damn good."
"I see," Peacock said doubtfully. He looked over at Salt, who was engrossed in a video game. "And what does he play?"
"The drums," Rosen said, resting the bass on the floor.
"He doesn't look like a drummer."
"Well, looks can be decieving," Rosen grinned. "He's good, actually."
"And you?"
"Well..." He scratched at a pointy ear. "I can play both lead and bass guitar, but I like bass a little better."
"Not much of a band," Peacock said.
"Not yet...." Rosen said. He gave a fangy grin. "But that may change soon."
"Huh?"
"You're a nightmare phoenix," the verphe said, picking up his guitar again. He played the first few chords of the Academy's alma matter. "And all nightmare phoenixes can sing, can't they?"
"Well..." Peacock cringed. "I think that's just a rumor."
"Rumor?" A red brow arched. "I heard you last night in the shower." A few more chords from the bass. "That was no rumor."
